With Heavy Hearts, CVCA Says Goodbye

With great sadness, we share the news that the longtime Executive Director of Carson Valley Children’s Aid, John Taaffe, passed away on April 28th after battling cancer.

As Executive Director, John spent nearly 40 years building and leading a creative and caring staff. He made Carson Valley a premier provider of human services, developing programs of the highest quality, and expanding impact and reach with the merger of Carson Valley School and Children’s Aid Society in 2008.

John was a modest man who was known for his sense of humor -- a man who could laugh at himself. Yet, he was mission-driven and deeply cared about the children and youth served by the agency as well as all his employees.

John was a dedicated family man, who was married for almost 56 years and delighted in the time spent with his wife Shirley, his late son Sean, daughters Jeannine and Lisa, and grandchildren. He was very involved in the Flourtown community, too, including the Rotary Club and various sports activities.

There will be a memorial service for Mr. Taaffe at The Commonwealth Chateau at Sugarloaf, Chestnut Hill College, on June 22nd. More details to follow.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Taaffe and the rest of the family. For Johns official obituary, please visit: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/philly/obituary.aspx?n=john-gerard-taaffe&pid=192790467
